Students and alumni urge funding for Montgomery College Theater Arts renovation

Ali Karambash described the Theater Arts Building as "dire need of an upgrade" and emphasized the college’s role in training performing-arts professionals for the Washington metro region. Eli Schreiber, a performing-arts major, said the building’s acoustics and aging infrastructure limit students’ ability to learn industry-standard technical and production skills.
Speakers argued that renovating the theater arts facilities is an investment in workforce development and equity: improved classrooms, labs and performance spaces would better prepare students for careers in the arts and arts-related local employment.
The public hearing closed for the afternoon and committee review will continue as the CIP process proceeds.
