Commissioners debated whether the interim appointment should be delayed to a future meeting to allow more time for discussion; supporters said immediate action would help with audit preparations and department continuity. The motion passed 3-2.
Commissioners directed staff to coordinate hiring and transition planning, including whether an external search or different hiring path is required. No change to the clerk’s resignation date was recorded; Jan will remain on staff in an advisory capacity through the effective date, per the motion.
