Mendon council moves to executive session to review annexation process and potential building fee schedule

The Mendon City Council voted to close the public meeting and open an executive session to discuss annexation policy and a possible fee schedule for building permits.

Early in the meeting the mayor announced the council intended to hold an executive session to discuss annexation policy and fee scheduling and confirmed that planning and zoning and the land-use (land-use authority) had been invited to take part. Later in the public meeting a council member moved to close the council meeting and open the executive session; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.

Before the closed portion began, Mayor (Speaker 1) introduced Marilyn Atkinson, the city recorder, who the mayor said had prepared a ‘‘line by line annexation process’’ and would also discuss fee processes for the council, the land-use authority, and planning and zoning to review for additions or edits. The mayor said the documentation was intended to create a clear process that would be "good for the city." Members of the public who were not invited to the executive session were excused from the meeting prior to the closed discussion.
