Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Texas updates commissioners on holiday programs, youth awards

Holly Gumper of the Boys & Girls Club in Northeast Texas briefed Hunt County commissioners on Feb. 10 about recent programming in the county’s three clubs.
Gumper said the clubs hosted holiday activities (including a Santa visit and craft events) and ran a 'hope tags' program that ensured 68 children and their families received gifts; she noted the program prioritized families who might otherwise be unable to provide holiday presents and included gifts for parents as well as children. Gumper also described trauma-informed youth programming, leadership academies for Youth of the Year nominees and an upcoming Youth of the Year gala scheduled for Feb. 28.
The court thanked Gumper and approved acceptance of the quarterly report; commissioners encouraged continued community outreach and said staff would follow up on any resource questions.
