Liberty Hill EDC introduces new attorney, forms Headwater subcommittee and moves bylaws and three projects into executive session

The Liberty Hill Economic Development Corporation introduced its newly engaged attorney, Josh Brockman Weber, at its Aug. 20 meeting, with Director (speaker 8) thanking him for joining the EDC. Weber said he splits his practice between city-attorney work and economic-development councils and offered his availability to the board: "I love economic development work," he said, and told board members he would share contact information for questions.

At the same meeting the director asked the board to form a small subcommittee to work with Headwater on a project-redo initiative and several board members volunteered to participate. "I'd like to request that you come up with a subcommittee to work on project redo with Headwater," the director said; board members Mark and Daniel volunteered.

Later the board moved agenda item 5c into executive session. The meeting clerk read the date and time then recited statutory exceptions: consultation with attorney under Texas Government Code Sec. 551.071 for discussion of EDC bylaws (item 5c); economic-development negotiations under Sec. 551.087 for items 7a–7c (projects labeled 'crayon,' 'octane,' and 'cowboy up'); and deliberations on sale/purchase/lease of real property under Sec. 551.072 for item 7d. The clerk stated that no action will be taken in executive session and any action resulting from those discussions will be taken under item 8 after the session.

Members also asked for an update on mold at the VFW building; staff said that topic will be covered in the executive session under the real-estate item. The meeting recessed to executive session; the board did not take public action on bylaws or the listed projects during the open session.
