Senate adopts joint resolution setting weekend adjournment, refers water bill to Finance and sets committee schedule

The Senate then took up JRS 40, a joint resolution regarding weekend adjournment on Feb. 13, 2026. The resolution was read aloud to the chamber and the presiding officer put the question. After a voice vote, the presiding officer declared, "The ayes have it. We've adopted the resolution." The resolution also instructs that when the two houses adjourn on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, they shall meet again no later than Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, as read into the record.
Members used the announcement period to set committee meeting times: Senate Health and Welfare at 9:45 a.m.; Agriculture shortly after the fall of the gavel; Transportation at 10 a.m.; Economic Development, Housing, and General Affairs at 10 a.m.; Natural Resources and Energy at 11 a.m.; Government Operations at 1:15 p.m.; and Finance at 1:30 p.m. A senator also thanked the Vermont Law and Graduate School for its role in Windsor County and encouraged colleagues to visit the campus.
Following announcements, the motion offered by the Senator from Chittenden Central that, pending announcements, the Senate stand adjourned until 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, was put to a voice vote. The presiding officer declared, "Ayes have it and we'll stand in adjournment till 1PM, Wednesday, 02/11/2026."
