"Water entered the police building, and it did suffer some major damage," a city staff member said, adding that City Hall’s second floor had water intrusion but no major damage. Staff thanked Williamson County and local volunteers for their response, saying the community “stepped up” during recovery and noting that "Liberty Hill is known as a small town, big heart city."
The staff member reported that an initial seven-day disaster declaration had been extended by the mayor and city council for 30 days; at the meeting the committee confirmed the declaration remains in effect. The city did not report major business losses downtown and said most businesses fared "fairly well."
The committee asked for clarification on the extension timing; staff described the extension as a 30-day period granted by the mayor and city council following the initial declaration. No additional formal actions were taken by the committee on the disaster declaration at this meeting.
Next steps: staff indicated the police headquarters interior is being renovated and will follow up with the committee as restoration continues.
