Liberty Hill DRC to join subcommittee for 50th International Sculpture Symposium; downtown sculpture designation discussed

At its Dec. 16 meeting the Liberty Hill Downtown Revitalization Committee discussed joining a subcommittee organized for the 50th International Sculpture Symposium and the committee's potential role in that effort.
Chair Kristen LeBaron said she had spoken with Katie Amsler and believes a subcommittee already exists but "may not have people on it yet," and that the downtown committee should have representation: "we will just want to have somebody from the DRC on that committee." Members agreed the DRC could provide one or two representatives depending on available seats.
LeBaron clarified that the resolution effort to declare Liberty Hill the downtown "outdoor sculpture capital of Texas" is a separate initiative from the symposium planning and is intended to be pursued independently. The 50th-anniversary committee work will focus on the festival and event programming while the downtown designation and any related resolution would be handled on a different timeline.
No formal appointment was made at the Dec. 16 meeting; members who expressed interest were told to notify the chair or Katie Amsler once the subcommittee's membership is finalized. The DRC expects committee work on the symposium to begin after the first of the year.
