Council recommends delaying city-funded lighting at Liberty Meadow Drive and SH 29 until county/TxDOT bypass work

Staff said TxDOT and the county declined to share immediate cost because they plan to wait for the bypass completion, and estimated a city-funded illumination could cost roughly $500,000 once design, electrical extension and construction were included.
Council members noted an earlier estimate discussed years ago of around $50,000 and asked staff to reconcile the difference. Several council members said spending that amount now could be wasteful if the bypass provides illumination shortly thereafter. Council generally directed staff to delay a city-funded installation, coordinate with Williamson County and TxDOT, and bring back options rather than spend fund balance immediately.
Staff will evaluate earlier cost estimates, coordinate with county and state partners, and return to council with recommended options and updated cost information.
