Walton County approves SPLOST budget amendments and green-lights 12 pickleball courts at Meridian Park

At the Feb. 10 meeting the Walton County Board of Commissioners approved fiscal-year 2026 budget amendments affecting SPLOST accounts and approved the final phase of the county’s SPLOST-funded pickleball program.
Finance staff presented a SPLOST amendment that increases contract labor expenditures by $606,141.77 for a deep patching and resurfacing project previously approved by the board. The amendment will reduce the SPLOST fund balance. A separate Parks & Recreation amendment increases both revenue and expenditures by $70,968 to reflect a donation; staff said this amendment had no net effect on fund balance.
The board also approved a resolution to proceed with construction of 12 pickleball courts at Meridian Park. The project will use SPLOST funds; Parks & Rec staff said the city of Loganville has authorized up to $200,000 to help offset project costs, and the county plans to utilize existing parking and self-perform some work to reduce expense.
A commissioner moved and the board voted to approve the budget amendments and the Meridian Park pickleball resolution; both motions carried by voice vote.
