Town manager notifies council of two state grant applications for housing projects

Staff said the town's consultant believes the project meets minimum qualifications and recommended that council open a public hearing on Jan. 20 and consider formally submitting the application by the Jan. 30 deadline.
The second item referenced a larger infrastructure request tied to the 90 Virginia Lane project; staff described it as a much larger project and said the town has not made official decisions on that project yet. Staff noted that approximately $5,000,000 is set aside statewide for these unmet housing grants and advised the council they would research whether pursuing both applications is strategically advisable given the funding pool and competition.
Staff said applications will be prepared for the Jan. 30 deadline and the council will consider the S4 Flats application formally on Jan. 20. Any grant awards and subsequent acceptance of funds would be subject to council approval.
