Neighbor raises safety and cost concerns about proposed 1B West Big Branch Greenway route

Elizabeth Stewart, an Anderson Forest resident, told the council she is opposed to the Greenway Advisory Committee's recommendation for the 1B West streamside route for the Big Branch Greenway.
Stewart said the committee did not provide a "ballpark idea of the cost of the 1B west route" and omitted property-acquisition and eminent-domain costs for nine homes. She also warned that the plan requires a long descending ramp from Six Forks Road or an expanded bridge and widened sidewalk at a busy, accident-prone section, and questioned whether the proposed website notification system would adequately warn residents about flooding in the area.
"They were not able to give you, the City Council, a ballpark idea of the cost of the 1B west route," Stewart said, and added that environmental concerns and nearby ongoing development could increase flooding potential. The comment was part of public comment and did not trigger any council action on the record.
