Chief administrator Michael Nesta announced a set of upcoming community events and contact points, including a Christmas tree recycling event on Saturday, January 10 (9 a.m.–1 p.m.), the Recreation Department’s 'Hot Chocolate Hikes' on Saturday, January 16 at Morrissey Reserve (10 a.m.), and a Presidents' Day program on Monday, February 16 at 7 p.m. Nesta directed residents to the recreation website and Westmoreland Cleanways for details.
Council discussed and voted to set its regular meeting schedule as the first Wednesday and the third Tuesday of each month (noting that calendar exceptions affect April and July) and directed staff to advertise those dates. The council also designated official depositories for municipal funds (Dollar Bank; First Commonwealth Bank; First Summit Bank; PLGIT; PNC Bank; S&T Bank; Standard Bank) and reaffirmed bank account resolutions.
Council reaffirmed bonding amounts for officials: the director of finance and taxation/treasurer was reaffirmed at $750,000; the mayor at $100,000; the chief administrator at $250,000; the president of council at $100,000; and a blanket bond of $50,000 for all other council members and municipal employees. Council approved advertising openings for several boards and commissions and moved to schedule interviews for specific vacant positions before the next meeting.
The meeting concluded with a motion to enter executive session to discuss a personnel matter with counsel; council stated there would be no action taken publicly following that session.
