The Bluffton Town Council on Tuesday approved the first reading of an ordinance that amends the town's fiscal year 2026 budget to recognize a $50,000 grant from the Beaufort‑Jasper Housing Trust and to reallocate prior‑year fund balance for affordable housing and capital projects.
Finance staff (Speaker 13) told the council the general fund will recognize the $50,000 neighborhood assistance grant and that prior‑year fund balance will be used in the executive department for affordable housing initiatives and parks planning. The amendment also recognizes a $150,000 increase in the Cove building project in the CIP and a transfer for the Holly Hill Lane connector project. Staff said the total amendment increases the consolidated budget by $536,300 to $109,075,075 (presented figure).
Councilmember (Speaker 3) moved approval of the first reading; it was seconded and the council voted in favor.
The amendment was advanced on first reading; staff said further readings and any additional public review required by ordinance will follow the town’s legislative schedule.
