The Brighton Central School District Board of Education completed routine business on Oct. 28, approving the meeting agenda and previous minutes, taking first readings of several policy updates, and voting on cooperative procurement bids and the consent agenda.
Chair Davis called for approval of the agenda; Karen moved and Clayton seconded the motion, and the board approved the agenda by voice vote. The board then approved minutes from the Oct. 14, 2025 meeting (moved by Sue; seconded by Carrie Lynn) by voice vote.
The superintendent’s office presented several policy changes as first reads; board members were asked to review these items again ahead of a later vote. The board also approved cooperative bids for milk, juice and bread as a cost-saving step in response to a reported 40% increase in food ordering.
Under the consent agenda the board approved field-trip requests, fundraising activities and accepted four community gifts: a $150 donation from Brian Slanica to the PTSA hardship fund; a multi-school book donation from Jean Strazabosco and Barbara Sullivan; and a $10,000 gift from Nancy Beck Funch to the Brighton Central School District. Clayton moved to approve the consent agenda; Carrie Lynn seconded and the board approved the items by voice vote.
Before adjourning, Chair Davis thanked staff who supported the meeting logistics. The board recessed and then adjourned; the next scheduled business meeting is Nov. 18 with a community forum the same evening.
