Brighton board honored with student performances and awards during recognition night

The Brighton Central School District Board of Education was the focus of an evening of student performances and community recognition on Oct. 28, 2025. Chair Davis opened the meeting and said the district would take its board-recognition portion out of order so the public could see student music and art honoring board members.
Dr. Glaser introduced seven student groups and described the district’s performing-arts program. “We have 7 student groups,” Dr. Glaser said, and thanked board members for sustaining music and arts opportunities. Katie Laird, director of the high-school ensemble Crazy Pitches, said the choir comprises students from varied interests and thanked the board for supporting extracurricular music.
The district displayed artwork by Brighton High School sophomore Georgia Wertzinger and read a proclamation recognizing School Board Recognition Week from Gov. Kathy Hochul. Stephanie Bush, president of the PTSA, offered a brief thank-you on behalf of parents and volunteers; Jamie Porter, president of the Brighton Teachers Association, presented the BTA’s gratitude and announced a donation made to the Brighton Education Fund in the board’s name.
Officials presented a Brighton Believes Award to TCMS student Julianna Dollinger, nominated by teachers Danielle Hippert and Christine Coyle for contributions including the school morning segment “30 seconds of space.” Board members and staff praised Dollinger’s curiosity and community leadership.
The recognition night also showcased younger ensembles and elementary instrumental programs, which district staff said reach all fourth graders with strings-or-band instruction. The event closed with board members thanking staff, families and the PTSA for their roles in making the performances possible. The board adjourned after completing the regular agenda and approving routine minutes and consent items.
