Council approves $26,800 vehicle replacement from equipment fund

Staff said the equipment replacement fund balance available for vehicle purchases is $45,900, sufficient to cover the replacement. The request was characterized as part of a scheduled replacement program that initially ran on a seven-year cycle and was extended to 10 years because the existing vehicle remained serviceable.
Council discussed procurement rules and the buy-board option; staff said because the purchase total is under the $50,000 state procurement threshold, competitive bidding through a buy board was not required. Councilors also asked about the trade-in mileage; staff said the Ford had just under 15,000 miles and is used for conferences, trainings and supply runs.
The motion to approve the purchase was moved by Councilman Bratt and seconded by Councilman Summerlin. The council voted 4–1 in favor.
