Council approves $500,000 repayment from water/sewer fund to MDD

The Shenandoah City Council on Monday approved a $500,000 reimbursement from the water/sewer enterprise fund back to the Municipal Development District (MDD) to repay an earlier advance that helped fund water and sewer projects when the enterprise did not have sufficient cash.
Councilman Raymaker, speaking in his MDD capacity, said the enterprise fund has regained capacity to stand on its own and recommended returning the $500,000 that the MDD had advanced at the project’s outset. The MDD board had unanimously recommended forwarding the reimbursement request to council, staff said.
"I'll make a motion that we repay the $500,000 to MDD," Raymaker moved; Councilman Robinson seconded. One councilmember urged the body to avoid frequent borrowing between funds in the future. The council voted in favor and the presiding official declared the motion carried.
Council directed staff to continue presenting routine water and sewer cash‑flow summaries in monthly reports so council and MDD members can monitor fund status going forward.
