Chris (staff) reviewed the schedule and asked councilmembers to reserve the key dates: May for council request submission, June 11 for a joint meeting with the Municipal Development District (MDD) to prioritize capital projects, July 9 for the initial operating‑budget discussion, July 23 for the remaining departmental reviews, and August 13 for the tax‑rate discussion required by state law. Staff emphasized that the council‑request form should include a title, description and an estimated cost so staff have time to research and present options.
Councilmembers discussed process preferences, with some favoring a staged approach to review rather than an intensive multi‑day workshop. Councilman Raymaker and others noted the importance of receiving tax‑office numbers before finalizing any decision on the no‑new‑revenue (NNR) rate. Staff said the calendar will be locked in and that Lisa (finance director) will circulate request forms to members.
Councilman Robinson moved to accept the calendar as presented; a second was recorded and the motion carried on a voice vote.
The calendar sets the schedule for staff research, departmental submissions and public hearings leading up to tax‑rate adoption; individual council requests submitted in May will be considered at the May 14 meeting and during the July workshops.
