Shenandoah council suspends CenterPoint Energy interim gas rate for 45 days

The Shenandoah City Council on Feb. 26 adopted an ordinance to suspend the effective date of CenterPoint Energy Texas’s proposed interim rate adjustment for the company’s gas reliability infrastructure program for 45 days, a standard municipal review step.
Counsel explained the suspension is the routine step municipalities use to delay the effective date so the city can review the filing; counsel said the ordinance ‘‘would suspend the effective date of that rate adjustment for 45 days.’’ Staff added that the pause will save residents ‘‘a few bucks for 45 days’’ unless the state takes prior action.

The suspension does not permanently block the filing; rather, it gives the city time to examine the rate‑impact tables provided in the agenda packet and, if desired, to coordinate a municipal response or intervention during the legal review window.
