Sherwood Safety Board votes to forward proposed towing fee increases to council

The Sherwood Safety Board voted unanimously on Feb. 5 to forward proposed towing and toll rate increases to the town council for ordinance consideration and posting.
Police Chief Peter Sormoz told the board he had contacted local tow firms after last month’s study session and reviewed the firms’ requested changes. Sormoz said the packet includes a new proposed $20.26 toll fee and that daytime and nighttime winches would be set at $1.85. He said Stan’s Towing provided the fee requests and that Stan’s representative, Boone Lacosteck, was present to answer questions.
A board member moved to approve the proposed increases; the motion was seconded and passed by roll call vote 4-0. Sormoz said the ordinance will proceed to the council for final approval and that the town expects to post the new rates within roughly six to eight weeks after council action.
The board did not set an exact effective date at the meeting; Chief Sormoz said posting will follow council ordinance approval.
