"We would like to incorporate similar requirements," Unidentified Speaker 4 said, adding that permits could define those safeguards.
Councilmembers raised operational concerns including controlled entry and exit, security and whether the ordinance should allow small block-party permits; one councilmember suggested permitting only city-designated major events and keeping routine block parties outside the carve-out. "Provide as much information as possible," an unnamed councilmember said, asking for side-by-side comparisons of ordinance options for public input.
Staff said they would prepare draft ordinance language showing alternatives and return to council for further direction and public outreach. No formal policy change was adopted at the workshop.
