She summarized the applications the board had in hand and said one applicant, Driven Performance, was established in 2021 and currently employs seven full‑time and one part‑time worker and sought equipment and signage. "He is estimating that it will be right around $15,000 for the entire project," Deb said, noting not every applicant had provided signed quotes or receipts.
Board members said the program’s purpose is to spur measurable economic development and asked that staff follow up with recipients for return‑on‑investment information six months to a year after awards. One member raised a concern that some requests looked like routine maintenance rather than business expansion. Deb responded that the board may consider applications on a case‑by‑case basis and that final payment is withheld until recipients submit complete, verified invoices.
Budget figures presented at the meeting show a $90,000 Main Street matching grant pool; combined applicant requests totaled about $93,000. The board agreed to approve grants where documentation was complete and to ask staff to return with bids for the remaining applicants so the board could consider partial awards or remote approval before state deadlines.
Motions recorded in the meeting minutes show a board member identified as "Kobe" moved and others seconded to approve the Vengeance Powersports application. The board announced the vote as unanimous. A later motion to approve the Marcin Furniture Outlet application also passed unanimously.
The board directed Deb to personally follow up with applicants lacking quotes and to circulate any updated documentation to members. The remaining applications, including Best Western and several smaller food and service businesses, will be revisited once staff confirms bids and eligible expenses under the grant period (07/01/2025–06/30/2026).
