Board approves $1.06 million safety system and replacement van after finance update

Following a finance update on Feb. 9, the Forest Hills Board of Education approved two purchases recommended by district staff: a districtwide safety and visitor-management package and a replacement district van.
Dr. Michaud presented routine December financial statements, bond construction updates and process modernizations (electronic absence reporting, expanded ACH vendor payments). He then described a recommended partnership with Syntegix for a safety platform that includes wearable staff badges with one-touch alerting and geolocation features, visitor-management improvements and, in certain activations, auto-dial dispatch functions. The board was told the package is a one-time cost for a five-year partnership and would be funded with 31a grant dollars for an amount not to exceed $1,061,340.
Dr. Michaud also recommended replacing a 13-year-old 10-passenger minivan with a new, low-bid vehicle. He said three quotes were solicited and the low bidder was recommended for an amount not to exceed $62,990, to be paid from general fund dollars.
After a brief question period the board proceeded to a roll-call vote; multiple board members recorded "Yes" in the transcript when polled and the chair confirmed passage of the items.
