Swampscott shows small enrollment gain and launches real‑time dashboards for schools

Miss Kent presented the district’s October 1 enrollment report and a new data platform, Open Architects, during the Dec. 4 School Committee meeting. She said the October 1 submission is the official count and that district staff had also begun using a real‑time dashboard that syncs nightly with Aspen to track enrollment, attendance, behavior, assessments and course participation.
Key figures from the presentation: the official October 1 report recorded 121 new students enrolled between July 1 and Oct. 1; total recorded withdrawals were 81 in that official submission. Using the nightly dashboards, the district reported a net change of +5 students since the start of the school year (18 enrolled, 13 withdrew). Kent also noted subgroup trends compared with the same date last year, including roughly a 2% decline in students with disabilities and a 2% drop in low‑income students.
The platform allows staff to view enrollment by school and course, teacher rosters and subgroup comparisons in real time, and administrators said it will help the district spot imbalances (for example over‑ or undersubscribed courses) earlier in the year. Kent said the dashboards also produce AI‑generated key insights to highlight trends and that the district has executed appropriate data‑confidentiality agreements.
