Superintendent told the committee the district has been awarded $75,000 through a grant application processed in the GEMS grant-management system and credited the award to assistance through Senator Moore’s office.
The funds are intended to offset the purchase of a 12-passenger van the district will use for Encore, Rise and Evolve programs, clubs and occasional small-group trips such as those to the State House. The superintendent said the district will work with central-office staff to manage the purchase and apply the Auburn logo to the vehicle.
No motion was required at the meeting to accept the grant; the superintendent said staff will follow up with relevant departments and update the committee when the vehicle is procured.
Next step: district staff will coordinate procurement and share timing and operational details with the committee.
