He also said the county is pursuing a Connected Communities grant that could support programs for residents (he cited "Internet security" as an example) and some facility improvements if awarded. "We have a Brownsville grant that, we continue to work on. This really just ensures for the restoration of buildings that are in need of repair," Gass said. He added that TDEC and VCIF monies "are being spent to to complete and execute and complete those projects."
Gass said the roughly $9 million acquired through grants has allowed the county to implement programs and purchase equipment it otherwise could not afford.
