Local agency reports grants secured, weatherization backlog and upcoming 'Walk for Warmth' event

A community program representative updated the Planning & Policy Committee on upcoming events, staffing and service delivery.
Jennifer reported that all FY26 grants are now approved and no longer on a continuing resolution, and that the program is scheduling a 'Walk for Warmth' fundraiser on Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at EV Construction across from Window on the Waterfront. "All of our grants are approved now, no longer on a continuing resolution," she said.
Jennifer said the weatherization program fell behind after funding uncertainty and the retirement of a quality-control inspector late last year. Staff are recruiting contractual energy auditors and quality-control inspectors and said training funds are available to certify new contractors. She said the program had a short waiting list — "around 6 or 7 clients" — and that some work is in progress but awaiting final quality-control inspections to be completed.
She described outreach and partnership work, including monthly recruitment with West Michigan Works and targeting Holland Board of Public Works customers for the 'Home Energy 101' program; the program is also seeking volunteers for the Walk for Warmth and for outreach roles.
Committee members thanked Jennifer for the update. The meeting then moved to final procedural items and adjournment.
