Director Bridal told the board the governor called the special election to fill the vacancy, with the special primary slated for Feb. 3, 2026 and the general to be held on the May 2026 election date. Staff reported that the candidates on the list filed by paying the filing fee rather than submitting signature petitions and that there were no challenges to any affidavits of identity.
A board member moved to certify the listed candidates as sufficient and to certify them to the secretary of state for the Feb. 3, 2026 special primary; the motion was seconded and approved by the board.
The board did not record additional challenges or related actions at the meeting; staff will include related staff reports and any future recommendations at the certification deadline if challenges arise.
