Board told Dominion voting unit sold; staff says Liberty Vote takeover unlikely to disrupt operations

At the meeting the bureau informed the Michigan State Board of Canvassers that Dominion Voting Systems’ voting‑system business has been sold and is operating under the name Liberty Vote.
Director Bridal told the board staff do not expect significant operational impacts for local election officials but said contract language will need updating so successor obligations transfer to the buyer. "We don't expect that to have any major operational impacts on election officials work or the board's work," Director Bridal said, adding that staff will meet the new company's leaders and keep the board informed.
Director Bridal also noted that contractual provisions typically require successor companies to inherit obligations but that bureau staff will nonetheless update procurement documents and contract language. The board discussed timing for approving new voting systems and staff reiterated the current voting‑system contracts expire in February 2027, requiring the bureau to undertake requirements development, an advisory group process and an RFP before board approval of any new system.
No formal action was taken at the meeting on vendor contracts; staff said they will follow up with the new vendor and integrate any necessary changes into upcoming procurement work.
