Weld County names longtime inspector Caleb Solzhen as chief building official

WELD COUNTY — The Weld County Board of County Commissioners unanimously appointed Caleb Solzhen as chief building official for the Department of Planning Services.
The appointment was presented under new business. Solzhen told the board he has conducted inspections for multiple jurisdictions since 2004, rising through inspection, plan review, inspection manager and building official positions and serving on chapters of professional organizations. He said the appointment will allow the department director to step back from day-to-day building-official duties so Solzhen can handle those responsibilities.
Commissioner Peggy Buck moved to appoint Solzhen and Commissioner Kevin Ross seconded; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Commissioners praised Solzhen’s work and welcomed him to the role.
No employment contract terms, salary figures or effective date were stated on the record during the meeting.
