Weld County moves to apply for Click It or Ticket grant to fund seat-belt enforcement

Lt. Jerry Porter of the Weld County Sheriff's Office told commissioners the grant is a recurring, state-funded program that helps the office offset overtime when deputies are deployed to conduct traffic safety enforcement. "We're currently requesting approval to apply for Click It or Ticket grant funding in the amount of $8,250," Porter said, adding the overtime funds help deputies participate in the four enforcement periods coordinated with the state.
Commissioner Harry Buck moved to approve the application; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. No public comment was offered on the item.
Action taken: authorization to apply for $8,250 in Click It or Ticket grant funding; no changes to county staffing or policy were approved, only authority to apply. The county did not adopt enforcement policy changes during the meeting.
The board will return to the item for any required contract execution if the grant is awarded.
