Weld County approves $220,000 emergency roof replacement for county building in Greeley

Weld County commissioners on Jan. 26 approved Contract ID 10265, authorizing Front Range Roofing Systems LLC to replace a wind-damaged roof at 1401 North 17th Avenue in Greeley for $220,000.
Patrick O'Neil, director of facilities, told the board that the county's 2026 budget included a line item for the roof replacement but that a Jan. 16 windstorm "lifted and tore the roof beyond what could be repaired," creating an immediate need. O'Neil cited Weld County Code section 5-4-80, which identifies certain nonroutine repairs and maintenance as exempt from the standard purchasing process, and recommended entering a direct contract so work could begin immediately.
"The roof needs to be replaced immediately," O'Neil said. Commissioners moved and seconded the contract approval; the motion carried on a voice vote.
The Facilities Department recorded Front Range Roofing Systems LLC's proposal to provide materials, labor and equipment to replace the roof for $220,000 and indicated the contractor could start immediately. The board did not discuss alternate vendors during the public portion of the meeting recorded in the transcript.
