Finance staff presented highlights of Ordinance 262, the county budget for calendar year 2026: projected revenues of just over $586 million and expenses totaling about $702.77 million. Staff said personnel costs account for roughly $255 million and one‑time projects about $250 million. Commissioners thanked the finance team and approved the ordinance on second reading.
The board approved two related contracts (IDs 10081 and 10082) for in‑building radio amplification systems to improve public safety radio communications at Briggsdale School (RE‑10J) and Pawnee School (RE‑12). Purchasing staff Toby Taylor said equipment will be bought through a Sourcewell cooperative contract with Motorola Solutions (doing business as Bearcom) and that installation quotes total $25,000 for Briggsdale and $22,500 for Pawnee; purchasing noted the installation vendor is a single source for the region (referred to in materials as Vericom/Veracom). Both contracts were moved and approved by the board.
On employee benefits, Allison Palmer of HR explained the county's self‑funded health plan carries stop‑loss coverage for claims over $350,000. Following a competitive review, the board approved a resolution authorizing the chair to sign a stop‑loss agreement with Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada, replacing Voya as the county's stop‑loss carrier.
Public Works items approved included acceptance of a special warranty deed for property at 908 11th Avenue for a judicial and administration site; a small right‑of‑way purchase (compensation $1,300) tied to County Road 29 improvements; and a $240,560.61 relocation agreement to move gas lines for the County Road 54 & 13 roundabout project. The board also approved a lease agreement (Contract 10094) allowing the City of Greeley to lease office space in the Chase Building with a 180‑day termination clause.
The meeting opened with a recognition of long‑time Public Works coordinator Duane Neibauer, who was presented with a certificate noting service from June 14, 1993, to Feb. 1, 2026. Several commissioners and colleagues commended Neibauer's mentorship and long service.
