LTC to Remain Closed for Months After Flood; Remote municipal coverage, accessibility upgrades to continue

Adam, an LTC representative, announced that the community media center will be temporarily closed for months as crews complete remediation after a recent flood.

"Based on everything we know right now, this is going to be a months long process, not a matter of weeks," Adam said, adding that the priority is to "make sure every part of our facility is safe, dry, and fully operational" before reopening. He said the closure applies to all member activity, including the gallery, studios, conference room and equipment access.

The center has begun demolition in parts of a lower level and started a drying process under the supervision of its remediation team and insurer, Adam said. On-site access is being limited and coordinated with the remediation professionals; staff are working remotely during the recovery.

Adam said LTC will perform air quality testing when the specialists deem it appropriate and that a positive report will be required before the facility reopens to the public. In the meantime, he said LTC will continue to provide municipal meeting coverage and is preparing to restore remote systems and network infrastructure for live shows, with work expected to begin next week.

There was one practical bit of luck: a replacement server ordered before the flood arrived the morning the flood hit, which "helped us get on the air much quicker than expected," Adam said. That new system, he added, will allow LTC to roll out planned accessibility improvements, including improved closed captioning and live Spanish-language translation. He said LTC requested Khmer script support from its vendor about a year ago and the vendor is still working on that feature.

The accessibility services will be available on LTC's cable channels and at ltc.org, Adam said, while noting that not all features are yet supported on YouTube; YouTube offers translated captions after broadcasts. He framed the upgrades as consistent with LTC's mission of accessibility and community service.

To support recovery, LTC has posted a donation page at ltc.org/donate. "If you are in the position to help, contributions will go directly toward rebuilding our capacity and restoring the services our community relies on," Adam said. He closed by thanking listeners for their patience and said the organization will provide further updates as the recovery progresses.

LTC did not announce a reopening date; the organization says it will wait for remediation and air-quality results before setting one.
