Council tables kiosk request from Chelko, discusses insurance‑trust nominations and recognizes employee of the month

City of Freeport staff gave several brief reports and the council handled a series of noncontroversial items, including tabling a kiosk request and acknowledging city staff.

City Manager read a letter from "Chelko" asking to "leave the kiosks through the 2026." The city manager said staff have been communicating with "Kevin Henderson" about the request and noted the city's role as a longstanding payment location. Councilwoman Bridal said she had contacted a board trustee, "Terry Pilcher," who planned to bring the issue to a board meeting on the 19th; Bridal suggested tabling the item to await that board action and the council agreed to table the matter.

Finance staff said the insurance trust has requested nominations and offered to submit a nominee form if council members wished; staff also said it was acceptable to submit no nominees. Planning staff reported that a contractor's work would be confined to its own right-of-way and "not going to be impacting our access to any of our entrances," and council members confirmed the location of a new red light.

At the close of the meeting the mayor presented the City of Freeport employee-of-the-month award for January to Chase Grubb "for your dedication, passion, and hard work supporting the residents of City Of Freeport." The meeting was then adjourned.
