Wausau proclaims Feb. 11 as 2-1-1 Day to highlight local help line

Mayor Doug Denny read and signed a proclamation at the Wausau Common Council meeting on Feb. 10 declaring Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, as 2-1-1 Day in the City of Wausau.
The proclamation noted that 2-1-1 Marathon County handled more than 4,600 requests in 2025, provided approximately 9,100 referrals and connects residents to an up-to-date database of more than 20,000 services. It described 2-1-1 as a free, confidential service available by phone, text and online that the city and county use as a single point of contact during emergencies.
"I do hereby proclaim Wednesday, February 11 as 2-1-1 day in the City Of Wausau, and it shall be recognized by honoring those who work to serve our residents and keep our community safe," the proclamation read and was signed by Mayor Doug Denny. Council members noted the proclamation will also be presented at the United Way kickoff luncheon the following day.
The proclamation was entered into the meeting file; no formal council vote on the proclamation was recorded during the meeting.
