Weld County adopts ordinance allowing EV charging stations in agricultural, commercial and industrial zones

The Weld County Board of Commissioners adopted code ordinance 2025‑16 on second reading Dec. 8, adding a definition for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and allowing them as a permitted use in agricultural, commercial and industrial zones.
Jim Fletcher from the planning department told the board the Weld County Planning Commission reviewed the ordinance and unanimously recommended approval. Fletcher said staff had no further changes for the board and that the ordinance would add a definition of EV charging stations and list them among allowed uses in the cited zoning categories.
The board opened the public hearing for second reading, heard no public comment and moved to adopt the ordinance on second reading. The motion carried on voice vote and the ordinance was approved as read.
