Weld County proclaims Frontier Academy Wolverines Day and highlights veterans services

Weld County commissioners on Nov. 5 read two proclamations honoring a high school athletic milestone and veterans service work and heard a detailed update on county veterans programs.
The board proclaimed Nov. 5, 2025, as Frontier Academy Wolverines Day to recognize Frontier Academyboys golf for winning the Class 2A state championship. Coach and team representatives took the podium; assistant coach Linda McManus and several players introduced themselves. "I'm incredibly proud of these players for representing Frontier Academy and Weld County with class, integrity, and sportsmanship," the coach said.
The meeting also included a Veterans Day proclamation designating Nov. 11, 2025, as Veterans Day in Weld County. Tammy Grant, Deputy Director of the Department of Human Services, told commissioners that county veterans programs have expanded outreach and direct services. "In 2025 alone the Weld County Workforce Center provided employment support and job training to 582 veterans while the veteran service office assisted 1,580 veterans with benefits-related activities," Grant said, and described a new veterans committee and monthly resource fairs aimed at connecting veterans with benefits and job opportunities.
Commissioners praised the VSO staff and the new committee. Commissioner Lynette Peppler, who said a family member is enlisted, thanked veterans for their service; Commissioner Scott James said the VSO receives frequent public commendation. The board invited team members and veterans to have a commemorative photo following the proclamations.
The proclamations were ceremonial recognitions; no formal policy changes were proposed during these agenda items. The board proceeded to its regular business after the presentations.
