The public hearing for a major site-plan change of use at 352 Turnpike Road (Disability Assistance and Vocational Education, Inc.) was continued to Feb. 23 after the applicant's attorney updated the Planning Board on outstanding technical items. Attorney George Benan told the board that he expects the lighting plan to be "ready in a week or so" and that the fire-department request for fire-protection engineering is a costly item the applicant preferred to complete as part of the building-permit process rather than pay for up front before site-plan approval.
Town staff reported board-of-health feedback confirming system capacity for the proposed use; planning staff said they will follow up with the building department about parking questions. Several board members said they would be comfortable conditioning site-plan approval on submittal of final fire-engineering plans during building-permit review to avoid imposing large pre-application costs on the nonprofit applicant.
Motion and vote: The Planning Board voted to continue the hearing to Feb. 23, 2026, at 6:45 p.m. The continuation motion passed with a unanimous recorded vote in favor.
