District facilities director recommends $525,439 roof replacement at Westside Elementary

Pete Warwick, director of facilities and grounds for the Sun Prairie Area School District, presented a proposal to replace seven roof sections at Westside Elementary and recommended awarding the work to Pioneer Roofing. "The proposed roofing project would cost $525,439," Warwick said, noting the item is on the superintendent’s consent agenda because district policy requires board approval for projects above $250,000.

Warwick told the board the district has split roofs into numbered sections to help planning and maintenance and that the proposal covers roof areas 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 9 as the base bid, with Alternate Add No. 1 (section 6) shown as a green-option to be added if the budget allows. He said Industrial Roofing Services has been a long-term partner and that both he and the contractor agree "the current asphalt built up roof system should be replaced in the sections identified" because "it is at the end of its service life." Work is planned to begin after the end of the school year and be completed before the next school year starts.

Warwick identified Pioneer Roofing as the lowest bidder and recommended the district proceed with the base bid plus Alternate Add No. 1 for a total of $525,439.
