Fayetteville board approves street renaming, sidewalk water line, budget amendment and library appointment

At its Feb. 10 meeting the Fayetteville Board approved renaming Center Street to Center Avenue, authorized FPU to install a water line under a sidewalk, adopted Ordinance 2026‑03 (Budget Amendment No. 9) increasing animal control appropriations by $2,122, and appointed Rachel Musarelli to the library board.
At the Feb. 10 meeting the Fayetteville Board of Mayor and Aldermen took several formal actions:
• Rename Center Street to Center Avenue — Motion to approve by Alderman Alder, second by Alderman Allen. Roll call votes were recorded as 'Aye' by Alder, Allen, Bradford, Faulkner and Moe; the motion carried.
• Approve FPU water line under sidewalk — Motion by Alderman Faulkner, second by Alderman Small to allow Fayetteville Public Utilities to place a water line under the inside portion of the sidewalk (so future leaks can be repaired by removing sidewalk rather than the street). Recorded 'Aye' votes were Allen, Bradford, Faulkner, Small and Alder; the motion carried.
• Adopt Ordinance 2026‑03, Budget Amendment No. 9 — The ordinance contains three sections adjusting general fund and animal control ledger accounts and increases animal control appropriations and revenues by $2,122. Motion by Alderman Faulkner, second by Vice Mayor Bradford; the motion carried.
• Appointment to the library board — The Board appointed Rachel Musarelli to a three‑year term (to June 30, 2028). Motion by Vice Mayor Bradford, second by Alderman Alter; roll‑call votes recorded 'Aye' by Faulkner, Small, Alder, Allen and Bradford. The motion carried.
Several other personnel and appointment items were announced (a nomination of Drew Ivy to the Federal Housing Authority vacancy was made public but not voted on).
