A tool demonstrated in the demo indicated roughly 51 percent of the town’s uploaded documents met accessibility standards, prompting an emphasis on document remediation.
Councilmembers stressed the need to preserve FOI and archival access while trimming obsolete pages and improving search. Staff said CivicPlus and the town’s IT consultant can implement multi‑factor authentication and administrative controls to secure content management access.
A scoping meeting with CivicPlus lead Alex is scheduled for Feb. 19 to present timeline options, a detailed cost breakdown and choices for phased implementation. The town will evaluate options to minimize upfront costs, archive older documents securely, and preserve public access for records needed for FOIA requests.
Council directed staff to advance the scoping work and return with a presentation for council and the public that includes migration costs, archiving strategy and accessibility remediation plans.
