Trustees approve EMA agreement, appropriations revisions, administrator contract and a property sale

The Fairfield Township Board of Trustees adopted multiple resolutions and took administrative actions at its Feb. 10 meeting, including agreements on emergency management, appropriation adjustments, an administrator contract extension and authorization to transfer a parcel of township property.
EMA agreement and costs: By voice and roll call the board adopted Resolution 26‑26 authorizing the administrator to execute an agreement with Butler County Emergency Management at a total cost of $12,850.75. Administrators explained the increase over last year is roughly $250 due to an increase in township population; trustees noted the fee will be apportioned among the general fund, fire, police and public‑works funds.
Appropriations revision: Trustees adopted Resolution 206‑27 to revise the 2026 permanent appropriations. The resolution added previously omitted special police funds (drug law enforcement) and an equitable‑sharing account balance of $15,029 intended primarily for a recently established police drone program.
Administrator employment contract: After returning from executive session the board adopted Resolution 206‑28 approving an employment contract with Kimberly Lepensi as township administrator and dispensing with a second reading; trustees publicly extended Lepensi’s contract for two years "due to her outstanding service to our community."
Property transfer authorization: The board approved Resolution 206‑29 authorizing the administrator to execute documents necessary to transfer/sell township property: a 6.56‑acre parcel on Gilmore Road adjacent to library/StoryPoint property. During discussion the purchase price was quoted at $950,000 and trustees confirmed proceeds may be placed in the general fund.
Administrative items and next steps: Trustees also instructed staff to assemble quotes for building window replacement and to prepare filings for potential state capital‑budget funding for a fire‑station renovation before spending township funds. Committee reports included a recommendation to submit a public assistance damage assessment to pursue federal reimbursement for the recent January snow event; staff were asked to collate overtime, equipment and supply costs by Feb. 13 for county submission.
