Summary
The Tulare County Board of Supervisors voted 5–0 on Feb. 10 to approve the consent calendar. During the evening meeting supervisors reported on the World Ag Expo, upcoming ribbon-cuttings and local events; GSA director Brooke Sisk promoted Balch Park’s nomination in the Fresno Bee People’s Choice awards.
The Tulare County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve the consent calendar during its Feb. 10 evening meeting, and used the session largely for district updates and community announcements.
The Board approved the consent calendar on a motion by Supervisor Valero, seconded by Supervisor Townsend; the Chair called the vote and recorded a 5–0 tally. Earlier in the agenda the Chair had convened a closed session, which County counsel said was necessary and would not produce an announcement; after the closed session counsel reported there was "nothing to report."
Supervisors used their time to brief the public on recent and upcoming local events. Supervisor Vanderpool thanked county departments and volunteers for their work at the World Ag Expo, and announced a coroner’s office and morgue ribbon-cutting scheduled for Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. He also noted upcoming meetings for retirement and early-childhood commissions and other department briefings.
Supervisor Valero reviewed winners of the Woodlake Awards and described a Sequoia Community Center ribbon cutting in Badger and regional funding efforts through Yosemite Sequoia RCDC. Supervisor McCarrie said the board’s Hmong fighters recognition resolution is being advanced through the National Association of Counties and described recent outreach at agricultural and veterans events. Supervisor Townsend reported a meeting with an AT&T representative about district communications needs and previewed a GSA site visit and near-completion library tour in Springville. The Chair also reminded residents of additional evening board meetings on June 17, Aug. 25 and Oct. 20.
During public comment Brooke Sisk, director of the county’s General Services Agency, asked the public to support Balch Park’s nomination for the 2026 Fresno Bee People’s Choice awards (Best of Central California). "Balch Park has been nominated for the 2026 Fresno Bee’s People's Choice, best of Central California," Sisk said, and noted voting opens Monday, Feb. 16 at 11:00 a.m. and runs through Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. She described Balch Park as located above Springville at roughly 6,500 feet, with a grove of giant sequoias; the park is typically open for camping and day use from late May through early October.
The meeting concluded after County Counsel confirmed there was no report from closed session and the Chair adjourned the evening session.
