The request from staff said the day-after-Christmas date periodically falls midweek and that closing the office avoids requiring employees to use paid time off for a low-demand day. Council asked staff to publicize the closure as early as possible and to add an announcement to the city’s phone system. No member requested further study; the motion carried in open session.
The council’s action is procedural and does not change any permanent holiday resolution currently on the books.
