Members emphasized the importance of preserving future right‑of‑way connections and ensuring fire and school‑bus access.
Commissioners also reviewed sidewalk rules tied to cul‑de‑sac length: the code waives sidewalk requirements for short dead‑end streets under 400 feet with fewer than 100 vehicle trips per day, based on Institute of Transportation Engineers guidance. Staff was asked to draft ordinance language to bring back for public hearing and to articulate criteria for 'environmental constraints' (wetlands, floodplain, steep topography) that would justify exceptions.
The commission did not change the code at the meeting; staff will prepare draft amendments and the required public‑hearing packet for future consideration.
