Dover public-safety and fire reports highlight traffic stops, K9 deployments and holiday events

We had 28 misdemeanor arrests, 1 felony arrest, 7 drug, drug, or DUI cases, 123 calls for service, and K9 Shelby had 7 deployments," the presenter said. The presenter also noted that K9 Shelby had 13 deployments in October that were not previously reported in last month’s totals.
The presenter described community outreach and seasonal activities: a Dec. 14 'stuff the cruiser' event at Cash Express where people can bring donations to fill patrol cars, participation in the town tree lighting and Christmas parade, and distribution of toys from patrol vehicles during the holidays. The department completed biannual CPR and AED training for full-time and reserve staff, the presenter said.
On fire-department activity the presenter reported volunteers contributed approximately 165 hours and the fire side recorded 14 calls for service during the past month; the presenter said there was 'nothing new to report' and that yearly totals will be provided at the January meeting.
Mayor and city-manager communications that followed repeated thanks to the Stewart County Sheriff’s Department and local public-safety staff for event coordination and public safety during large crowds. The mayor noted local concern about drugs, stating, 'we think it's not here, but it's here,' without presenting data in the meeting record.
