The Safety Harbor City Commission unanimously approved a professional services task order Feb. 2 with Finley Horn & Associates for design, permitting and construction services for a replacement fuel island at the Public Works complex.
Public Works Director Renee Cooper told commissioners the project will replace two existing 10,000-gallon tanks (one diesel, one gasoline) that are more than 30 years old and have reached their maximum lifespan. Cooper said replacing the tanks is necessary to obtain the city’s annual operating permit for the fuel island and to ensure operational readiness for fueling city vehicles and equipment, including during emergencies.
Commissioners expressed support for proactive replacement to avoid permit or operational disruptions; a motion to approve the task order passed on a 5-0 roll-call vote.
Staff will proceed with design and permitting work and return with contract and construction updates as required by procurement rules.
