Weston approves multiple 2025 public works contracts and expands repaving scope

At its April 15 special meeting, the Village of Weston Board approved a set of public works contracts and bid awards for 2025 maintenance and repaving work.
Trustees moved and carried motions to award crack-sealing and Gilsonite treatments and to accept the low bid for the 2025 asphalt overlay. The board also awarded the Shorey Avenue repaving project to American Asphalt and directed staff to open additional bids for 2025 repaving work using allocated but not yet awarded road-maintenance funds. Staff and trustees said recent bids came in lower than projected, creating the opportunity to complete additional miles of road without extra budget appropriation.
Trustee Jim Pinsonault urged using the lower-than-expected bid results to accelerate pavement repairs so residents receive improvements sooner. Trustees approved change orders and phase items for other street projects (East Jellick Avenue, Weston Avenue phases) noting that many of those items had been previously vetted.
The board asked staff to ensure bid documents allow phasing and coordination with other village projects to minimize contractor mobilization costs. Recorded motions carried by voice vote or roll call as noted in the meeting record.
